I’ve been breast feeding my newborn for 4 weeks now. The pain in the nipple has subsided and I am more comfortable doing it. Except for these past two days and this time the pain is only in the left breast and its not the nipple, it feels deep in the back tissue. I experience a burning, sore pain in the back of my breast, inside and it shoots forward somewhat when she’s latched on. I checked the baby’s latch and repositioned her, but it feels the same. I don’t experience this pain on the right breast at all, just the left. I don’t have cracked nipples or any red streaks, there are no symptoms of thrush, not even on the baby. I don’t have any flu like symptoms either. I sometimes feel a burning or dull ache even after she’s feeding from that side. Tonight it got so painful I had to take her off that breast after 10 mins. When I apply a warm compress it feels better but I sort of know it will hurt again when she’s on it or when there isn’t a warm compress. I don’t seem to fit all the symptoms for mastitis either. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
